RUGBY WRITTEN ASSESSMENT
The Rugby World Cup has reached its conclusion . The importance of the sport has reached epidemic levels in many recreation centers. Many job opportunities
have become available for the summer months and beyond. The supervisors are looking
for information in booklet form to describe the basic skills in Rugby.
He feels the need to develop content for neighborhood children in these booklets taught by high students at the recreation
centers will be a valuable learning experience. Imagine yourself in that job
opportunity and prepare for the work that entails working with youngsters.
The Project :
To develop a booklet of basic rip flag rugby skills that high school students can use to teach children lead up activities
and skills . You will be provided with markers , and other writing materials
to complete the booklet. This will be an out of school project to be completed within one week .
Steps in order to complete the booklet
:
· Reflect about the skills learned in class necessary to begin play of the touch rugby game
· Include the following items to develop the booklet. The
pages will be provided for you to finish the project within a 4-5 page limit .
1.
The three basic passes for the attacking team
2.
Two basic kicking skills
3.
Cues or tips to help the children understand the game
4.
Adapted or modified rules(rip tag)
5.
Ways to practice the skills
· Make a cover for the booklet( ask the art teacher for help)
· Upon completion of the booklet please turn it in to the P.E office.
RUBRIC SCORING PROCEDURE
Level 1 : Intramural(Novice)
The student chooses not to develop the booklet
due to lack of knowledge or completes only one of the five pages included in
the booklet :
· Names only one basic skill
· Gives name or description of a basic skill
· One or two components or cues
Level 2; Quarter Finalist(Basic)
Student develops the booklet with two pages that include :
· The name of a lead up skill
· Knows some correct descriptions of the lead up skills
· Names two components or cues
· One or two ways to practice the skills
· Adapts and modifies rules(rip tag)
Level 3: Semi-Finalist( Proficient)
The student develops a booklet in which three of the five pages include the following
:
· The names of the basic passing and kicking skills
· Names and description of the proper lead up skills
· Three components or cues
· Two ways to practice the skills
· Adapts and modifies rules(rip tag)
Level 4: World Cup ( Distinguished)
The student develops a booklet and each page includes the following:
· The name of the lead up skills(passing and kicking)
· Names and description of all lead up touch rugby skills
· Three components or cues for each skill
· Three ways to practice the skills
· Adapts and modifies rules( rip tag)
