The first order of business is to maintain positive body language
and confidence. Next, a professional looking potential candidate
is always one that maintains the "look" of a person who not only
wants the job, but appears has something to offer. It helps to
prepare yourself with proper breathing techniques to calm you down
so that stress doesn't ruin your answers. Before answering the
questions, take some time to think about the response. This doesn't
mean to have a long wait period , but affords you time to have a clear
mind so you don't end up "tongue tied".
It is at this point you must prepare yourself beforehand to emulate some
questions. This means are you prepared for a myriad of questions that
have to do with health , physical education, nutrition , recreation , dance,
community, obesity , technology, brain gym, NEW P.E., classroom
management, safety , dealing with parents , dealing with other teachers
and the community. That is, leave no stone unturned and expect the
unexpected. Also, become aware of debatable topics that have made
the headlines like taking tag out of schools or cutting recess . Start to
become a "reader" of papers , journals , etc. along with all media that
are related to the educational arena.
In many instances, they people who are running the interview process may
have no clue about what PE really is all about. So, come prepared for
some questions that may not relate to P.E. Now, if you are fortunate to have
a PE person, then you surely must be prepared to answer with keen
and complete answers that are not only correct but will " blow the socks off

the others. This will make you a vaible candidate and one that will be an
asset to that school.
Are you well versed in the new tech trends( DDR, V=cycling, Eye Toy , Glove
Radar, Ipod and Nike plus, Smart Board, PDA , Pedometers,Heart Rate
Monitors, )?
It will help to practice in front of a mirror to garner more confidence and
make you feel more comfortable . This "warm up" along with breathing will
calm the nerves. But nothing will be better than being PREPARED .
Please check out my website(listed below) and click on the Talkshoe
icon for eight(8) episodes that I did on my Internet radio show that may
help with information. It includes brain gym , technology , fitness, health
and nutrition.
Recently, I wrote out some questions for my wife, an elementary Principal,
for a PE job at her school. Here are some possible questions :

Please discuss the national standards for physical education?
What is a quality physical education program?
Physical education plays a critical role in education of the whole child and
reducing childhood obesity. How would you promote physical activity and
help reduce the obesity epidemic?
Please give examples what is meant by developmentally appropriate
practices?
How would you accommodate students with a varity of special needs?
What are your plans for professional involvement and  self improvement?
Give an example how you have been cooperative and flexible in a
professional work environment.
How do you think physical education contributes to the total curriculum?
How do you ensure the "safety and well being" of all students?
